Superior Buying Power and Inventory Control
We have considerable experience in the selection of profitable pet foods
and supplies. Our track record of volume buying and prompt payment has resulted
in vendor co-operation as well as many discounts and allowances not generally
obtainable by independent pet food specialty stores. Volume discounts are also
obtained on equipment such as cash registers and on operating supplies such as
PET VALU shopping bags. Franchisees may also benefit from lower credit card
commission rates.
Marketing and Advertising Program
We design local promotional activities and chain-wide promotions.
Extensive House Brand Program
We have a broad assortment of house brand pet foods, including PET VALU®,
HEALTH DIET®, PERFORMATRIN®,
PERFORMATRIN ULTRA®,
FELINE CUISINE® and CANINE CUISINE® that are available at PET VALU stores.
We also have an organic dog shampoo line called HOMEPATH™
and various lines of cat litter, including: FRESH4LIFE®
Scented Clumping Cat Litter; KITTY'S BEST™ Clumping Cat Litter; and FELINE CLASSIC™.
All house brands have an established reputation for quality and value in existing markets, and
because of this reputation, encourage ongoing customer loyalty.
Store Leasing
We have established a sound reputation and strong relationship with developers
and landlords. This provides us with a significant advantage when competing
for space in key plazas.
Training Program
Each new franchisee receives three weeks of training. One week of the
training program consists of classroom instruction at our offices.
These classroom sessions focus on day-to-day operating procedures,
bookkeeping, product knowledge and pet care. The remaining two weeks
of the training program consists of hands-on training at an existing
PET VALU franchised store with an experienced franchisee operator.
Note: Training programs outside of Ontario, Canada may be different.
Ongoing Support from Field Consultants
One of our staff of trained field consultants will make periodic visits
to your franchised store to provide guidance in operations matters.
At other times the field consultant can be reached by telephone to
respond to your inquiries. This field consultant has available, as
added support, a team of experts whose job it is to maintain PET VALU's
position as an industry leader.
