Job Specifications
- Responsible for recommending technological direction for PET VALU's group of companies.
- Responsible for leveraging strategic use of proven technologies for competitive advantage.
- Responsible for developing technology vision and influencing technical strategy.
- Responsible for developing and implementing business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
- Lead in the investigation of new technologies and architectural initiatives.
- Establish enterprise architecture and technical standards for highest industry performance (HIP) and ensure their adherence.
- Ensure technical designs comply with appropriate architecture and design standards to ensure best IT solutions are being implemented to meet business needs.
- Build a team of architects to ensure on going HIP performance to meet future needs and goals of PET VALU.
- Collaborate with all technical and business management for the introduction and the use of proven technologies for process improvement.
- Be a part of ITS senior management team in proactively establishing multi-year strategic and operating plans to support corporate long term strategies, goals and objectives.
- Responsible for assessing departmental practices in the areas of Application Development, Support Services, Technical Services, and Business Analysis and recommend improvements.
- Manage Technology Roadmaps for all products and technologies in the organization.
- Review and recommend changes to IT Governance policies.
- Lead and or participate as part of the team on various projects as assigned from time to time.
- Working understanding of industry standard and proven technologies and ability to recommend their application at Pet Valu and benefits, such as but not limited to:.
- Retail Federation;
- W3C
- EPC Global Standards;
- Service Oriented Architecture (SOA);
- Web 2.0
- Data Replication technologies;
- Wiki technologies; and
- Radio-frequency identification technologies (RFID).
Education
University degree in Information Technology or Engineering related field.
Graduate degree is desirable.
Experience
A minimum of 15-20 years of experience in Information Technology related field with a minimum of 5+ year's demonstrated ability in a technology leadership role.
In-depth knowledge of Retail (10+ years).
In depth knowledge of Microsoft technologies (10+ years).
Demonstrated ability in translating complex and diverse business requirements into timely and cost effective solutions.
Demonstrated ability to research and apply emerging but proven technologies to meet business requirements..
Experience in Application design and development, large scale software development projects, system and network security to ensure the security of enterprise applications and intellectual property.
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and build HIP solutions.
Experience implementing ITIL and Six Sigma.
Experience leading, managing, and designing Business Intelligence Application and large data-warehousing projects.
Experience leveraging Technology to implement Business Process Management (BPM) in organizations.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills tailored to audience.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into understandable terms that could be easily communicated to wide audience, from Very Technical (IT Staff and Consultants) to Senior Management.
- Ability to lead highly knowledgeable and skilled technical staff
- Excellent ability to manage large, complex projects.
- Ability to transfer knowledge and mentor other staff.
- A strong understanding of Enterprise Architecture processes such as Zachman Framework.
- Relevant certification is an asset.
