Quick tips: How To Make Your Cat’s Litter Box Sparkle

Cats are clean by nature. As cat owners, we need to do our part in keeping their litter box clean. To  prevent accidents and unwanted surprises, here are some tips to help keep your cat’s bathroom as fresh as possible:

• Scoop your cat’s litter box daily. Empty and clean the litter box every 1-2 weeks (more frequently if you have multiple cats).
• After cleaning the litter box, let it dry completely before refilling with litter, especially clumping litter!
• Cats have a very sensitive sense of smell, so avoid cleaning the litter box with harsh cleaning chemicals. Strong odors can deter a cat from using their litter box. Hot, soapy water and a thorough rinse works perfectly.
• Although cleaning your cat's litter box is not a glamorous job, it is a great way to keep tabs on your pet’s health. If you notice changes in consistency, smell, or quality of waste, call your vet for advice.
