Tell us what you and your pets like most about spring

Spring is here! If you live in a cold climate, you know that there’s something really special about those first few days of warm weather. The grass starts to turn a little green, buds start to form on the trees, and you and your pets want to get outside and enjoy the sunshine.

Warm weather also means that the spring issue of Companion is on its way. Want a chance to see your name in our next issue? We’re giving you an opportunity to do just that! Head to Facebook, Twitter, or the comments section on this blog, and answer the following question:

What do you and your pets like most about spring?

As much as we’d love to share all your posts, only a select few will appear in Companion. Selected posts will include the author’s name (or Twitter handle) and are subject to some editing.

If you’re using Twitter, be sure to include our handle (@petvalu) in your tweet so we’ll see it.

When the nice spring weather comes, myself, my boyfriend Eric, and my German Shepherd mix love to go out hiking. Whether it be trails close to home, or while we're away camping, we're always sure to adventure out into the woods for a lengthy trek. My boyfriend and I each bring a backpack with a blanket and food, and our dog, Chevy, wears her backback and carries a couple bottles of water for us. After a couple hours of hiking, we spread out the blanket and take a half hour break to rest and have a picnic. We don't leave out Chevy either - we bring her pop-up bowls so she can have some lunch and a nice cool drink. This fun and active adventure provides us with a healthy and enjoyable way to bond during those warmer months!

Lady loves to go for long walks and hikes in the woods.

Our dogs love the mud, warm weather and birds to chase that spring brings!!

Sparky loves the spring because she loves going out and watching the birds who finally come back to say hello. She loves long walks, short walks, ANY walks, along with playing with her frisbee!

Our indoor cat Jakub loves that with spring all the crazy birds start to fly up to the balcony and up to do windoes teasing him. He knows spring is here when he hears them chirping away close by and he cannot wait to precisely watch his prey, even though the all know there will never be an actual contact.

My cats and bunnies love Spring! When it's warm enough, I let my 3 cats Lexy, Monty, and Samson outside to roll on the warm concrete and 'graze' on the grass!
I also put my bonded pair of fixed bunnies, Lola and Benny in their harnesses and let them out with the cats! They all get along and the bunnies chase the cats around and nibble on the fresh grasses, clover, and dandelions! I bring out the catnip bubbles, and then they are all happy!
The cats are also big fans of the open windows! They all hang out on the windowsills and as I am in a basement, they can see the birds land right in front of them!
We are all so glad that Spring has Sprung!

Dale and Taffy are our eight year old mixed breed Australian Shepherd and five year old Dachshund respectively. Spring brings lots of mud and water which Dale adores to run through and roll in; Taffy finds it wonderful now that the ground is soft enough to bury her toys. They both have a long walk, run and play at Conroy Pit in Ottawa every day where they meet all of their friends - not all of them can get out in the winter. All of the dogs human companions have a clean-up day in May to make sure their park is safe and healthy for them all to enjoy.

It is the best time to make some plans for the future and it is time to be happy. I have read this post and if I could I wish to suggest you few interesting things or suggestions.
